Key engagement activities in 2014

In 2014, we will invite civil society stakeholders to provide their input in the second round of consultations relating to the review of the Good Governance Policies (GGPs). Public consultation meetings on the drafts of the policies were organised during the first quarter of 2014 in Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Morocco, Russia, Ukraine and the UK.

We will consult with civil society stakeholders on the development of the first country strategies relating to countries from the SEMED region where the Bank invests, starting with Jordan and Morocco. We will also invite the public to comment on the review of the country strategies for Bulgaria, Hungary, the Kyrgyz Republic, Latvia and Ukraine.

We will continue to modernise our communication activities through greater use of social media and e-tools, with the objectives of offering further opportunities for online engagement and to expand and diversify the base of CSOs, local informal groups and individuals engaging with us.

We will explore the possibility of building partnerships with CSOs in relation to our investment projects and with other initiatives in relevant areas such as public awareness raising on energy efficiency, good governance and best practice on environmental and social standards.

The 2014 Civil Society Programme will take place on 14 and 15 May in Warsaw, Poland. The Programme – which will take place as part of the EBRD’s Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors and associated Business Forum – will provide a forum for dialogue between civil society stakeholders and the Bank’s senior management, Board of Directors and President.
